As of Wednesday night, Oct. 16, the video shared by Ambamelia had more than 3.9M views on the platform.
The incident happened at Efi's Gyro on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair on March 11, despite the video being shared Tuesday, Oct. 15, the restaurant said in a statement shared to Instagram.
"I don't stand for Zionism in Montclair," the woman says as she films. "There's a genocide, you know that, right?"
Two employees came out and looked visibly confused.
"There are Greek," one said to the woman.
"Really?" she replies. "Oh s—. My bad."
Efi's said police were called to the scene but the quality of surveillance footage made identifying the perpetrator difficult. The restaurant also said the woman claimed that the incident was a "prank or skit for attention.
"We want to be clear: Efi’s Gyro is in no way affiliated with this individual and we do not condone or participate in any form of behavior that seeks to exploit sensitive issues for clout," Efi's said.
"At Efi’s Gyro, we stand for respect, unity, and integrity, and we are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all of our customers."
